The album is co-produced by the band alongside TITLE FIGHT’s Ned and Ben Russin, who were deeply involved in the recording process at Fascination Street Studio in Örebro, Sweden. Ned lends vocals on the track “Day By Day,” and the album features additional contributions from Chris Wilson (EKULU) and Sebastian Murphy (VIAGRA BOYS).
Following two EPs, a live cassette, tours and gigs across Europe, A Life’s Refrain embodies everything SPEEDWAY has accomplished up to this point, only better, more focused, and imbued with a sense of rebirth that resonates from the first riff to Anton Larsson’s closing lyrics: “Sought courage in despair. In songs that pierce the midnight air”.
The first single, “Permission To Dream,” is in many ways a quintessential SPEEDWAY track, making the band’s artisanal evolution impossible to overlook. The song’s DNA is laced with a nostalgic undertone yet never sacrifices speed or aggression. SPEEDWAY is playing faster than ever, while simultaneously exploring new territories. Within that dynamic lies pure magic.
SPEEDWAY has been an essential part of the hardcore scene in Sweden’s capital for several years. Some members are involved in booking DIY shows under the
name Acting Out Stockholm, and the band sharememberswithEXISTENCE,BLOOD SERMON and FEELS LIKE HEAVEN.
